Description
No. 38 Market Square is a shop and dwelling from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The building features rendered and limestone-rubble walls, and has roofs made of Welsh slate and old plain tiles, along with rendered stacks. It has a double-depth plan with a long rear wing. The front of the building is three storeys high, while the rear wing is two storeys. The rendered front has two windows and includes a moulded cornice and a plain parapet. The first and second floors have 12-pane and 6-pane sash windows, and the ground floor has been built out in the 20th century. The rear wing, which is made of rubble and extends to the left, consists of at least three different building phases and has a steep-pitched roof. The main section at the back has been re-fenestrated, but a lower single-storey section still has older casement windows. The interior has not been inspected.
