Description

The property comprises a farmhouse, now divided into three cottages, located at 1, 2, and 3 Church Street, Somerton. Dating to the 17th and 18th centuries, it has been extended in the 20th century. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with wooden lintels, and includes squared quoins; it features Welsh-slate roofs and stone-and-brick gable stacks. The original main range, to the right, consists of three bays with a steep-pitched roof. Doorways for cottages 2 and 3 (the latter being a later addition) are flanked by casement windows of 2 and 4 lights, and a single 2-light casement remains on the first floor between larger 3-light windows. The section to the left (cottage 1) was likely raised from a single-storey bay and features 2-light casement windows, sharing a 3-shaft stack with cottage 2. The right gable wall has been partly rebuilt and includes an ashlar-based stack, which returns to a short rear wing. 20th-century single-storey extensions are present at the rear. Internally, the building showcases chamfered beams. The building is included on the list for its group value.
