Description
Oak Cottages, consisting of Nos. 1 and 2, is a pair of cottages dated 1887, designed in a vernacular revival style by Mervyn Macartney. The cottages feature a red brick ground floor and a first floor that is decorated with plain and decorative tile-hanging, which sweeps out over the ground floor like a bell case. They have a plain tiled half-hipped roof with gablets. The buildings are 1½ storeys tall and include two gabled oriel-type semi-dormers that are weatherboarded and supported by brackets, featuring Ipswich glazing that is decoratively latticed. The barge boards and decorative pendants are positioned below a moulded bressummer and the windows. On the ground floor, there are two wood-framed lattice casement windows. The entrance is located to the right, featuring a panelled door, with a half-glazed door to the left, both set in recessed porches with brick side walls and wood side walls, although the left side is now closed in.
