Description
Providence Cottages comprises a possible former hall-house, dating to the late 15th or early 16th century, with a 19th-century extension. The right-hand block is timber-framed and has a red brick ground floor, with weatherboarding above. It features a plain tiled roof, hipped on the left and half-hipped on the right. The building likely retains a former hall-house plan. It is two storeys high, with a tall central brick ridge stack. Window openings are irregular, with three windows on each floor and various wooden easements. Boarded doors are located on either side of the centre of the left-hand block. The left-hand block has a red brick facade with a rat-trap band and a hipped front roof. It is also two storeys high, with two end stacks to the left. It possesses iron-framed casements in segment-headed surrounds below, and a panelled door to the right, sheltered by a pentice hood supported by wooden brackets.
