Description
Beryl Cottage and Ruby Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, with 18th-century cladding. They are timber-framed, featuring a ground floor made of red and blue brick and a weatherboarded first floor. The cottages have a plain tiled half-hipped roof with a central brick ridge stack and two hipped dormers. The design follows a baffle entry plan and consists of two storeys and attics. The front has a regular arrangement of three windows, which are 20th-century wooden casements. The central entrance has a door surround positioned against the stack, with the door to Beryl Cottage on the left and the door to Ruby Cottage on the right. At the rear, there is a deep catslide extension with the timber frame exposed in the gable, along with later wings added to the rear.
