Description
No. 3 Bourne Cottages is a small house, likely from the 18th century or earlier. It has a framed construction with weatherboarding on the front elevation, a peg-tile roof, and a brick chimney stack.
This cottage is the best-preserved in a row facing Tibbs Court Lane. The front section is two rooms wide with a central lobby entrance, and the two rooms are probably heated by back-to-back fireplaces. The rear elevation and interior have not been inspected, so details of the plan are unclear. Some internal dividing walls in the other cottages have been altered, suggesting that No. 3 may have originally been part of a larger house.
The exterior features two storeys with a symmetrical three-bay front. It has a central 19th-century panelled front door and two 19th-century two-light casements on each floor, with six panes per light.
The interior has not been inspected, but it may hold interest, and an internal inspection could lead to a revision of the suggested dating.
