Description
Chapel Cottage is a small cottage, likely built in the 19th century. It features weatherboarding, a slate roof, and a brick stack.
The cottage is very small, consisting of one heated room with additional outshuts at the rear and on the left and right sides. These outshuts are believed to have been added slightly after the original cottage, according to the owner.
The cottage faces northwest and is slightly set back from the road. It has two storeys and a symmetrical three-bay front, with identical outshuts on either side, all under lean-to roofs. The main roof is gabled at both ends. The central front door is panelled and probably dates from the 19th century, sheltered by a gabled porch with lattice sides and a pendant at the top. There are two 2-light transomed casements on both the first and ground floors, with a similar window on each outshut.
The interior has not been inspected. Unspoiled cottages of this size are extremely rare, and Chapel Cottage has group value with the former chapel located to the north.
