Description
Hilltop Cottage is a small cottage, likely built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It has a framed construction clad in weatherboarding, with the left end wall partially rebuilt in brick. The roof is covered in peg tiles, and there is a brick chimney stack.
The cottage faces west and is situated on a corner site. It features a narrow two-cell plan with a central entrance. On the left side (north), there is a kitchen/parlour heated by an end stack, while the right side contains an unheated room. The size of the cottage appears to be influenced by the awkwardness of the site.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an almost symmetrical three-bay front. It includes a 20th-century central glazed front door with a sloping corrugated iron hood. There are two first-floor windows, which are 19th or 20th-century two-light casements with six panes per light. The ground floor has a similar window on the right and a three-light casement on the left.
The interior has not been inspected. Hilltop Cottage is part of a group of small cottages that form an artisan hamlet in Tibbs Court Lane.
