Description

The stable and hayloft, located approximately 20 metres to the south west of the Bull Inn, is a building likely constructed around 1880 by George Devey, who also remodelled the Bull Inn at that time. This structure is designed in the Kentish Vernacular style and features a rectangular shape with verandahs on the north west and north east sides. It is two storeys high, built of red brick with a decorative diaper pattern using grey headers on a brick plinth, and has weatherboarding above. The first floor includes an outshut with timber framing and plaster infill. The roof is hipped and tiled.

On the north east elevation, there is one loading door and a small diamond-paned casement window. The ground floor features two triple wooden mullioned and transomed casements, along with a large plank door that has iron hinges and a rectangular fanlight above it. The first floor is partially obscured by a wide verandah with a tiled roof, supported by six square wooden piers, and has a cobbled surface underneath.

The north west elevation has a ground floor made of red brick with the same diaper patterned grey headers, while the projecting first floor is constructed of timber framing with plastered infill, featuring close studding and long tension braces. There is one triple casement window with diamond leaded lights. The verandah on this side is supported by five square piers with flattened Tudor arches and central wooden pendants. The right side of the stables retains horse troughs and a ladder leading to the top floor, while the left side contains four wooden loose boxes.
