Description
36 Little Mount Sion is part of a terrace known as Nos 2 and 3 Berkeley Place, which are also considered to be on Berkeley Road. The buildings date from the late 18th century or early 19th century, featuring a front that suggests an earlier structure with a hint of timber framing at the south-east corner. They are two storeys tall with an attic and a semi-basement, constructed of red brick, while the ground floor of No 3 is stuccoed. The parapet has a central scrolled panel with a pediment above, and there are similar panels without pediments at each end. The terrace includes ten sash windows, although the glazing bars are missing, and there is a painted stringcourse. No 2 has a doorcase with a segmental fanlight, while No 3 features a doorcase with stuccoed pilasters and a pediment. Inside, there is a good staircase. Nos 2 and 3 Berkeley Place, along with Nos 11 to 17 (odd) and Christmas Cottage at 1 Berkeley Place, form a group of buildings.
