Description
Christmas Cottage is an 18th-century cottage located in Royal Tunbridge Wells on Berkeley Place. The ground floor is constructed of painted brick, while the first floor is tile-hung, featuring three courses of curved tiles that create a decorative band across the front. The roof is tiled, half-hipped to the east and gabled to the west, topped with a tall brick chimneystack. The cottage has two storeys and two windows, following a two bay end chimneystack plan form.
The front elevation, facing south, showcases early 19th-century 12-pane sash windows set within moulded wooden architraves. The central doorcase features a six-panel moulded door with a rectangular fanlight above, and there is a later trellised porch. The east elevation has no windows, and the north elevation is obscured by a later building. Overall, the cottage has seen little alteration and retains its character as a two bay end chimneystack cottage.
