Description

This is a headstone dedicated to Richard Wills, located about 14 meters south of the south aisle of the Church of All Saints in Brenchley. It dates from the late 17th century and is made of freestone. The headstone features a shouldered shape with scrolled corners and a round-headed arch at the top, surrounded by a plain border. The inscription commemorates Richard Wills of Hardwell, who died in 1684. This headstone is an example of early memorials found in an exceptional churchyard.
