Description

In the southeast corner of the churchyard of the Church of All Saints, there is a pair of Noakes headstones, each surrounded by cast iron railings. These headstones date from the late 19th century and early 20th century and are made of white marble. The northern headstone features a Gothic design with an arched top and shafts that have carved ribs beneath a blind cusped arch, along with carved spandrels. It commemorates William Noakes, who died in 1899. The iron railings that enclose a square area in front of this headstone have two horizontal rails and barley sugar standards topped with bud finials. The southern headstone is designed in a matching style and includes a trefoil-headed inscription panel. Its enclosing railings also feature barley sugar standards and horizontal rails, with verticals that have fleur-de-lis finials.
