Description

Sisley Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, which was re-clad in the 18th century. It is timber framed and now has weatherboarding on the upper levels and painted brick on the ground floor. The roof is tiled and has a half-hipped form with gablets, and a rebuilt chimney stack is located towards the centre left. The first floor has two two-light and one single-light wooden casement windows, while the ground floor has two three-light casements. A boarded door is centrally placed on the right-hand side, with a small flat hood supported by brackets above it. A catslide extension projects from the rear. The interior retains an entirely timber-framed structure, with chamfered main beams. A substantial stone and brick inglenook fireplace is located on the right-hand side, and part of it has been enclosed with a boarded door, creating what may have been a curing closet.
