Description

Little Pix Hall is a house dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the early 18th century. It features a timber frame that is clad and extended with red brick on the ground floor and tile hanging on the first floor, topped with a plain tiled roof. The principal elevation, facing the garden, has two storeys and boxed eaves, with chimney stacks positioned at the left end, centre left, and a projecting stack at the right end.

On the first floor, there are three tripartite glazing bar sash windows and one single glazing bar sash window to the centre right. The ground floor has three glazing bar sash windows and a half-glazed door with Gothick Y-tracery to the centre right, which is topped by a flat cornice hood supported by large brackets and fluted pilaster surrounds. The left side of the building features a small hipped wing and a larger 20th-century rear wing, with portions of English bond brickwork and a sandstone base, along with a 20th-century conservatory to the right. The main entrance is now through a panelled door located in a columned porch in the mid-20th-century rear wing.

Inside, there is a large 18th-century inglenook fireplace dated 1732 in Roman characters, an 18th-century staircase with stick balusters, turned newels, and a ramped handrail, as well as a clasped purlin roof that was originally a Queen-strut design. The right end and rear sections of the house showcase exposed framing with large scantling, curved tension bracing, and gun-stock jowls, along with an added framed stairwell extension. A chamfered mullioned window is also exposed in the rear wall. The property includes cellars and has an attached wall projecting from the left end, which is about 6 feet high and extends approximately 20 yards, featuring a boarded gate.
