Description
This is a barn located approximately 15 metres north of Pullington House, dating from the mid-18th century and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The barn is timber-framed and stands on a brick plinth, with weatherboarding and a half-hipped peg-tiled roof. It features a central cart entrance and consists of five bays, with an aisle at the rear, a staggered purlin roof, and kingposts without a ridgepiece. The upright posts are jowled with curved profiles, and the wall frame includes a midrail and diagonal braces. There are inserted 19th-century floors at either end. The right-hand end of the barn appears to have been used as a dwelling in the early 20th century, possibly as temporary accommodation for a pig man. A plank door on the left side leads to an integral outshut, which was likely added later, maintaining the staggered purlin design. Some of the weatherboarding is beaded, and the outshut on the other side is bonded and partially lined with concrete, featuring an incised masonry pattern and a picture rail. The ceiling was plastered at one time.
