Description
Dolphin House is an 18th-century house located on Goudhurst Road in Horsmonden. The building features a ground floor of red and blue chequered brick, while the first floor is tile hung, topped with a plain tiled roof. It consists of two parallel ranges, standing two storeys high with an attic, and is set on a plinth that has a corbelled brick string course at the first floor level. The roof has a moulded wooden eaves cornice, two hipped dormers, and chimney stacks at both ends.
The front of the house has a regular arrangement of windows, including two tripartite wooden casements and a central single light casement on the first floor, and two tripartite sash windows on the ground floor. The central entrance door has six panels, with the top two being glazed, and is topped by a pediment-shaped hood supported by columns with palmate capitals, which was added in the late 20th century. The rear range mirrors the detailing found on the front.
