Description

Beal Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier. It is timber framed and weather boarded, set upon a red brick base, with a plain tiled roof. The house follows a lobby entry plan. It is two storeys high with an attic, featuring a half-hipped roof and a central hipped dormer. A moulded stack is located centrally to the left. The front of the house has two-light wooden casement windows on each floor; a three-light window is positioned centre-right, with transoms to the ground floor windows. A glazed door is centrally located to the left, featuring a flat hood supported by brackets and a small window above. The rear boarded door was likely originally placed in this opening.

Inside, the full timber frame is visible, constructed with substantial timbers featuring tongue-stopped chamfers and mortices for lozenge-set windows. Mullion and shutter grooves are also present. The roof is supported by tie-beams, and a complete set of carpenter's marks can be found within the house.
