Description

Church Cottage is a house built around 1846, likely designed by R C Hussey. It is constructed from Wealden sandstone with Caen stone dressings and has a plain tiled roof. The building has an irregular T-shaped plan.

The front of the building features a two-storey gabled wing on the right, which includes a plinth, quoins, and a kneelered parapet gable topped with a finial. On the first floor, there is a two-light mullioned window, while the ground floor has a three-light window. To the left, there is a half-glazed door set within a lean-to outshot. The rear left side has a gabled wing, and there is a projecting and offset central stack.

The right side of the building, which is the original entrance front, is one storey with an attic. It has a gabled half-dormer, a mullioned casement window, and a four-centred arched doorway with a half-glazed door. The rear gabled wing also features a half-dormer and a four-centred moulded doorway with a half-glazed door.

Church Cottage is part of a complex designed by Hussey that includes the rebuilt church from around 1846 to 1848.
