Description
The Gatehouse is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations made in the late 18th century. It is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, featuring tile hung return elevations and a plain tiled roof. The building has a four framed bay lobby entry design, with the current entrance located on the left return side facing the road.
The entrance front is two storeys high with a hipped roof and a tall moulded stack cluster at the centre rear, along with a stack projecting at the back. On the first floor, there are two three-light wooden casements, while the ground floor has one two-light and one three-light wooden casement, along with a 20th-century plank and rib door to the left, which is sheltered by a flat hood.
The right return, which was originally the entrance front, now features unarticulated irregular wooden casements. The left return has three hipped wings with irregular wooden casements and a glazed door.
