Description

FRITTENDEN SAND LANE TQ 83 NW (south east side) 7/42 Lowland Farm House and walled forecourt II House. C16, altered c.1701 and c.1711. Timber framed and clad with red and blue brick and tile hung on 1st floor, with plain tiled roof. Four framed bay hall house in origin, now lobby entry, with 3 half-hipped rear wings. Two storeys on plinth with hipped roof and with moulded and filleted stack cluster to centre right. Three light and 4 light wooden casements to left on 1st floor and glazing bar sash to right and 2 light, 3 light wooden casements and glazing bar sash on ground floor. Door of 4 raised and fielded panels to centre right with flat cornice hood and open scrolled brackets. Rear wings with early case- ments (are still shuttered). Interior: fully framed,. with inglenooks, four centred arched doorway (to parlour) with indented spandrels. Crown post roof. Extensions rated 1701 and 1711. Walled forecourt, C18. The walls of red brick about 3 feet high and regularly buttressed, running about 15 yards before the house, and some 50 yards along the roadside, with corner piers, and C19 metal gate to centre.
