Description

Crane Books is a shop located on Cranbrook High Street, dating from the 17th century. The building has a timber front with a brick ground floor and an exposed frame on the first floor, featuring close studding and plaster infilling. It has a plain tiled roof that is half hipped to the right, and there is a central tall red brick chimney stack on the wing at the rear. The structure is two storeys high and has one central casement window on the first floor. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front with a glazed door positioned to the left. The building was likely truncated around the time the Congregational Chapel was built to the left in 1857.
