Description

The tomb of John Hursley de la Poer Beresford, 2nd Baron Decies, who died in 1855, is located about 1 metre south of Christ Church on Goudhurst Church Road. It is constructed from freestone and granite. The tomb features a moulded plinth and a medieval-style chest that is gabled with a cross. The design includes three linked roll mouldings adorned with leaf decoration. The side panels display five quatrefoils within roundels, also enriched with foliage. The end panels are cinquefoil arched, featuring attached shafts with a cross and shield on the east side, and a relief panel depicting an achievement with angels as supporters on the west side.
