Description
This is an anonymous chest tomb located approximately 8 meters south of the nave of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. It likely dates from the late 18th century and is made of sandstone. The tomb has a rectangular shape and features moulded corner balusters that are intricately carved with ribbons and nut husk ornamentation. The flat lid has moulded edges, and there is a moulded plinth at the base. The panels have concave corners and are framed with bead-moulding, while small sunbursts are present in the corners. The south side of the tomb bears an inscription, but it is so worn that it is nearly illegible except in perfect lighting conditions.
