Description
This is a house located at 38 Henwood Green Road, built in 1741 according to the owner and modernised around 1975. The ground floor is made of painted brick, while the upper part features timber framing covered with weatherboarding. It has brick stacks and chimney shafts, and the roof is slate, although the front has been replaced with peg tiles.
The house faces southwest and is one room wide, with a passage on the left leading to the staircase. The main room has a projecting stack on the right end, and there is a lower kitchen block at the rear with a lateral stack on the right side. The building has two storeys and attics in the roof space of the front block.
The exterior has a one-window front with 20th-century casements that include glazing bars. The ground floor window replaced a tripartite sash window, as noted in the previous listing description. The front doorway is located to the left and features a six-panel door beneath a small flat hood. The mansard roof of the front block is gable-ended and includes a flat-roofed dormer at the front.
Inside, the house displays plain but sturdy carpentry where it is exposed. The roof has not been inspected.
