Description
This is a pair of adjacent headstones located approximately 7 meters south of the nave of the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Speldhurst. Both headstones date from the late 18th century and commemorate members of the Drury family. They are similar upright sandstone slabs with curvilinear-shaped heads, featuring inscriptions of crossed arrows and scrolls. Below the heads, there are fielded panels inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. The left headstone stands about 450 millimeters tall and commemorates Julia Drury, although the date of her death is not visible. The right headstone is approximately 350 millimeters high, but both the name and date on it are also buried.
