Description
The Morley chest tomb, dated 1776, is located approximately 7 metres south of the tower of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. This rectangular sandstone chest tomb features large moulded baluster corners and a flat lid with moulded edges, resting on a moulded plinth. The sides are plain, while the south side is inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, commemorating the death of Howard Morley in 1776.
