Description
Wentways and Laylocks is a house that has been converted into two cottages. It dates from the 17th century, with an 18th-century extension at the back and a mid-19th-century block at the front. The rear is timber-framed, with brick cladding on the ground floor and tile-hanging above. There is one exposed post on the ground floor on the right side. The front block features a red and blue chequer pattern with some glazed brick headers. The roofs are plain tiled and have twin spans, all half-hipped, except for the rear ridge on the left, which has hipped gables. There are central stacks on both ridges. The original layout follows a baffle entry plan. The building is two storeys high and has a two-window front with casement windows on the ground floor, which are set under segmental heads. The entrance is located at the front on the right, in a 20th-century lean-to extension with a boarded door. There is an additional entrance to Laylocks at the rear left.
