Description

The Moor Brewery is a building complex that includes a house and courtyards with outbuildings, dating from around 1841. It features red and blue chequered brick and a slate roof, along with stables and a carriage house that have a weather-boarded upper storey. The house has a garden at the front (east) and a courtyard at the rear.

The house is two storeys tall, with the upper floor likely rebuilt in the later 19th century. It has moulded bargeboarded gables and stacks on both the left and right sides. The front has a regular arrangement of three glazing bar sash windows on the first floor and one sash window to the right on the ground floor, along with a canted bay window with glazing bar sashes on the left. The central entrance door is half-glazed with round-headed lights and an ovoid fanlight, set in a moulded porch supported by coupled, moulded colonettes. The return elevations and garret also feature glazing bar sashes.

At the rear, the house has a regular arrangement of three glazing bar sashes and an open pedimented central doorcase. The rear courtyard is enclosed by a porch wall approximately six feet high, which has central wooden carriage gates. Incorporated into the wall is a low single-storey hipped outhouse with a stack, as well as a two-storey part-weatherboarded stable range. This stable range includes four wooden casements on the first floor, carriage doors, an elliptical open passageway, and a boarded door on the ground floor, with a loft door in the gable end overlooking the road. A plaque on the building is inscribed: "The Moor 1841 - 1921 Brewery."
