Description

The Vicarage is an early 19th-century house, originally called Oak Lodge. It is constructed of red and blue chequered brick, with a sandstone porch and a slate roof. The main entrance is on a return front, featuring two storeys on a plinth with a hipped roof and stacks to the left and rear left. A single glazing bar sash window with a gauged head sits at the centre of the first floor, while a margin light sash window is on the ground floor to the right. A large, central porch has coupled Doric columns and pilasters, an entablature, and a six-panel door with the top two panels glazed, above a semi-circular fanlight. The principal elevation is on the left return side, featuring three glazing bar sashes on the first floor and two large canted bays with French windows on the ground floor, each having flights of three steps. The interior includes a dog leg staircase with turned balusters, a wreathed handrail, and a decorative landing balustrade.
