Description

Silverden is a late 16th-century lobby entrance house of two bays, with a fine-quality gabled two-storey and attic parlour wing to the left, which was altered in the 19th century. The house has timber framing, but the ground floor is clad in brickwork and the upper floors are tile hung. It has a tiled roof with a central brick chimneystack. The left side of the house features a gable with a roll-moulded bressumer supported on brackets. The front has two storeys and five windows, with 19th-century casement windows. A 19th-century gabled porch has side lights and a plank door. The left side elevation also has two 19th-century casement windows. A late 19th-century addition exists to the rear. Inside, the house features roll-moulded spine beams and cross beams with run-out stops. A fireplace is present with a salt hole, and an early 17th-century plank door is also noted.
