Description
Christ Church, built between 1870 and 1871 by T K Green, is a cross-shaped church located on Prospect Road in Southborough. The building features random rubble construction with some banding and a slate roof that has varying slopes and eaves heights. A central fleche adorns the roof. The church has corner buttresses and a lower chancel, with a porch that includes buttresses and a small bell-tower on the east side of the south transept. There is also a porch at the west end of the north side of the nave. The chancel consists of one bay, while the nave has two bays, both of which are fitted with triple windows. The chancel is very wide and high, nearly matching the size of the nave. Inside, the church has cast iron columns, boarded roofs with arched braces and scissor trusses, and exposed brickwork that has been whitewashed, with the capitals of the columns gilded.
