Description

Woods Cottage is a 16th-century timber-framed farmhouse, later divided into two cottages. The ground floor of both cottages has brick infilling between the timber framing, while the upper floors have plaster infilling. Diagonal braces are visible on the first floor. The roof is tiled and hipped, with two small dormers and a central ridge stack. The cottage is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window façade featuring irregularly placed casement windows, some of which are horizontally sliding. According to local tradition, a nurse of Queen Victoria resided here in her retirement and the Queen is believed to have visited.
