Description
Nos 1 and 2 Baker's Cross are a pair of cottages that date back to the 16th century. They are timber-framed and sit on a brick plinth, featuring a weather-boarded ground floor and a tile-hung first floor. The roof is plain tiled, hipped, and includes gablets. There is a tall brick ribbed stack located to the right of the center, along with two hipped dormers. A lower stack with a projecting breast is found on the left return front. The building may have originally been designed as a hall-house. It has two storeys and an attic, with an irregular three-window front that includes 20th-century casements. On the ground floor, there is a small flat-headed octagonal bay on the left, and half-glazed doors are located to the left of center and on the right. Inside, a substantial frame from the original structure is still visible.
