Description
The Old Vicarage is a house that originally functioned as a hall house. It has a 16th-century timber-framed structure that was altered in the 17th and 19th centuries. The exterior features rough-cast elevations with a plain tiled roof, which has a ridge that is stepped to the right of center and is taller on the right side. The building is two stories high and has a two-over-one window arrangement, with 19th-century casements on the left and glazing bar sashes on the right. To the right of the central window, there is a half-glazed and panelled door that has a flat projecting hood supported by two wooden posts. Inside, the house retains a moulded crown-post in the collar-purlin roof and has smoke-blackened timbers, although some introduced stacks are present. The upper and lower ends of the structure appear to be missing, with the upper end framed between 1675 and 1750, while the lower end dates from the early to mid-19th century.
