Description

No 1 Smithers Lane is a 17th-century timber-framed cottage. The ground floor features red and grey brick infilling, while the upper floor has plaster infilling. It has a tiled half-hipped roof with stacks at both ends. The cottage is two storeys high and has a three-window front with casement windows. There is a missing central window on the ground floor. At the rear, there are two gables that end in short secondary wings, and the first floor is weather-boarded. The gables of the return fronts show exposed framing. The entrance is located in a modern extension at the south end of the building.
