Description
The Old Forge is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century and has undergone significant alterations. The building features a ground floor that is partly painted and partly made of exposed red brick, while the first floor showcases exposed timber-framing with plaster infilling. It has a plain tiled roof, which includes a large ribbed side stack on the left and a ridge stack in the center. The structure is L-shaped, with a hipped gable wing to the left and jettied eaves supported by exposed joists and brackets. The building stands two storeys high and has an irregular arrangement of windows, with four casements on the first floor to the right and two on the ground floor, along with one window on each floor beneath the gable. A door is located in a brick and tile-hung lean-to extension at the extreme right, which was originally the forge.
