Description

Forge Cottages is a pair of cottages dating from the early 19th century. The ground floor is constructed of red brick, while the first floor is tile-hung. The roof is half-hipped and covered with plain tiles, featuring two off-centre off-ridge stacks. The cottages are two storeys high and have a three-window front, with segment head surrounds on the ground floor. The windows are 19th-century metal casements with Gothick glazing, except for one window on the first floor. The entrances are located at each end, with a 19th-century gabled weather porch on the left side for No 4 and a 20th-century gabled weather porch on the right side for No 2. These cottages are included in the listing as a good example of a modest domestic building of traditional regional type.
