Description

No. 8, West Cliff Road is a terrace house dating to around 1820. It is constructed of white stock brick, with the ground floor and basement rendered, and has a slate roof. The house is three storeys and has an attic, with a rusticated base and a stack on the left side. The upper floors each have two glazing bar sashes with segmental gauged heads. A canted bay window is present on both the basement and the ground floor, featuring sash windows. A half-glazed door is positioned on the right-hand side, leading to a flight of steps, and is topped by a rectangular fanlight with an anthemion pattern to the rails. The house appears on Collard and Hurst's 1821 map of Ramsgate, and is grouped with Nos. 10, 1-2 and 14, which are known as Wellington Place.
