Description
This is a pair of cottages with an associated wall, built in 1794 by Boncey of Margate for Benjamen Bond Hopkins. The cottages are stuccoed and sit on a plinth with string courses, topped by a string course and battlements. A central stack with machicolation is a prominent feature. The front has five label-hooded Gothic sashes on the first floor, and three to the right and one to the end on the ground floor. There are two boarded doors to the left. A recessed rear wing of four bays features sashes (with replacement casements on the ground floor) set within arched and hooded recessed surrounds, and two arched niches on the right return. The left return is built against and incorporates a brick perimeter wall to the park. A separate stuccoed block, matching the main block in detail and proportions, adjoins this wall, with sashes to the re-entrant and rear elevations.
