Description
The Artillery Arms is a public house built around 1840. It features painted brick construction and a slate roof. The building is three storeys tall with a basement, topped by a parapet over a hipped roof, and has chimney stacks on the left and at the rear. A two-storey bow extends from the front, showcasing glazing bar sash windows on both the first and second floors. The ground floor pub front wraps around the building and includes panelled aprons beneath frosted and stained glass windows. This front is accented by pilaster piers supporting a fascia and cornice, with pediments that display reliefs of cannons above the panelled and glazed doors located at the left and right corners. The left side of the building, facing West Cliff Road, features a sash window above the panelled front, a glazing bar sash above a half-glazed door with a semi-circular fanlight, and additional glazing bar sashes on each floor, including in the two-storey end wing.
