Description
This is an early to mid-18th century farm cottage located on Lanthorne Road in Broadstairs. The exterior is flint-faced with red brick dressings and long-and-short quoins. It has a crenellated flint parapet and a brick eaves cornice. The front elevation features one pointed sash window with Gothic glazing, while the left side elevation has two similar windows. A simple doorcase is constructed from flint and stock brick on the right-hand side. There is a single-storey projection with a crenellated roof, and a similar extension on the left side, also of flint and brick with a crenellated parapet. Two similar windows are present on this extension, one featuring an elliptical head. The house was originally the dairy to Callis Court Farm and was the home of the notorious smuggler Joss Snelling.
