Description
Cove Cottage, located on the north-east side of High Street in St Peter's, is a pair of adjoining houses built in the 18th century. The Coves is a tall, red brick house with five storeys and one window, plus one blocked window space. It features a modillion eaves cornice, a five-light bay window on the ground and first floors with intact glazing bars, and a doorway accessed by seven steps, which is flanked by pilasters and topped with an open pediment. The door itself is a six-panel moulded design, with the top two panels cut away and glazed. The side elevation has two sash windows with missing glazing bars.
Cove Cottage is a long, low house with two storeys and six windows, topped with a parapet. It has two small bay windows on both floors, which also have missing glazing bars, and a small porch with an open pediment supported by Tuscan columns.
Cove Cottage, along with Nos 43 and 45 The Coves, forms a group of buildings.
