Description
There are four bronze gun carriages located in front of the Powell Cotton Museum building in Quex Park, Birchington-on-Sea. The first gun is from the Papal States and was cast in Amsterdam in 1637, featuring dolphin handles. The second gun is a Venetian Fort gun that was captured by the Turks and recovered in 1828. The third and fourth guns are Naval 32 powder guns from the Royal George, which sank off Spithead in 1782. One of these was made in 1743 and the other in 1759, and both also have dolphin handles.
