Description

This stable building, coach-house or workshop appears to date from the 18th century, though it may have been built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble and flint with red brick dressings, and has a plain tiled roof. The building is two storeys high, with brick quoins marking the gabled roof. It features a central boarded loft door and a central half-door on the ground floor. A pair of boarded cart doors are located on the right-hand side. The materials used suggest potential reuse from an earlier site. While not depicted on a Town Plan of 1774 or the 1842 Tithe map, the building was present by the time of the 1865 Ordnance Survey. It represents a rare survival of its type. The interior has not been inspected.
