Description
KOSICOT is a mid-19th century house originally built for a gunpowder worker, now serving as a private residence. The building has been extended and altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of brick with brick gable stacks that feature cornices, and it has a slate roof.
The house has a T-shaped single-depth plan, with a two-storey front that includes a two-window range. The windows are fitted with lattice-pane casements, and there are two square bay windows located beneath projecting dormers that have barge boards and are supported by curved brackets. The entrance features a segmental-arched doorway with a 20th-century door on the south side. The north gable has a projecting gable stack and a small casement window with a segmental-arched head to the left, while the south gable is devoid of openings and has decorative bargeboards. There is a late 20th-century extension to the rear wing that matches the original style.
The house was occupied by workers from the nearby Chart Gunpowder Mills, which were part of the Home Mills.
