Description

The building at 1 and 1A Court Street consists of an 18th-century front applied to a 15th-century timber-framed structure. It is three stories high and has four windows facing east and two windows facing south, with a rounded corner between the fronts. The exterior is white brick with a stuccoed cornice, topped by a parapet. A steeply pitched, tiled hipped roof completes the appearance. Original glazing bars are present above the ground floor.

The east front features an attractive 19th-century shop window with rounded glass on the south side, without glazing bars. A former doorway to the north of this shop window has been blocked and replaced with a window. A modern shop window and a modern doorway, which replaces the original doorway with a rectangular fanlight and a six-panel moulded door, are also present on the north side. A double door and a 19th-century shop window are located on the south front.

The interior retains 17th-century panelling.
