Description

East View is a house dating back to the 16th century, substantially refaced in the 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and is now clad in painted brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The house originally comprised four framed bays, and it has two storeys with a hipped roof and a chimney stack on the left side. A catslide outshot projects to the left. The windows are wooden casements, with two on each floor and one to the left in the outshot. The front door is a boarded door with a raking hood. Inside, the timber frame is clearly visible, featuring moulded beam ends, a dragon beam, and evidence of a jetty in the left (parlour) end bay. A roof structure with clasped purlins and wind braces is also present.
