Description
Waterditch Cottage is a house, formerly cottages, dating from the 16th century and refronted in the 18th century. It has a timber frame and is refronted with painted brick, featuring a weatherboarded right return. The roof is plain tiled, and the building stands two storeys high on a plinth, with a hipped roof and gablets, along with stacks at both ends.
On the first floor, there are four wooden casement windows, while the ground floor has three segmental-headed wooden casements. The central entrance features double French doors, with a half-glazed door to the right and a blocked doorway to the left, both having segmental heads. There is an outshot to the left and a catslide outshot at the rear.
Inside, the full frame is visible, although it has been replaced by brick at the front and left return. Notable features include a moulded main beam, door surrounds, and beam ends. A mullioned window, now located internally, dates back to the 16th century. The inglenook contains a contemporary child's leather shoe bricked into it, along with two domed bread ovens from around 1800.
