Description
Bexon Manor is a manor house dating from the 15th century, with alterations made in 1617. It features a timber frame that is close-studded with a middle rail, and the infill is exposed with colour washed plaster. The roof is plain tiled and the building has two storeys and an attic, set on a plinth with a continuous jetty. The left end bay, which is from the 15th century, includes a dragon post. The roof is hipped with a gablet on the left and a large barge-boarded gable that is off-centre, dated WE1617G, featuring a three-light mullioned window. There is a stack located to the centre right. The fenestration is irregular, with wood mullioned oriel windows on the first floor to the right and in the off-centre gable, along with segmental bay windows to the right and centre on the ground floor. To the left, there is a plank and stud door situated in a gabled and ornamented porch that has balustraded open lights. The rear range has been significantly extended, incorporating re-used framing around 1954. Inside, the manor features panelling and overmantels, with dates W.E.G. 1617 and E.C. 1619.
